Abstract

In 2016 numbers and distribution of Common Magpie were documented in district of Ploen district (1.082 square km).

381 nests were found and the number seemed to be nearly complete. There is a clear concentration in towns and greater settlements. The areas with agricultural use and small villages were less densely populated.

Compared to the situation in 1997/98 the number increased only sligthly from 370 to 381 nests, but the distribution has changed with decreases near the coast and increases in towns. 25 % of all nests were found in Birch trees in gardens and urbanized villages. The overall density is still very low.
