Abstract

1. In 1969, the following birds bred in 10 gravel pits around Jagel near Schleswig: Moorhen 1, Oystercatcher 1, Sandpiper 2, Little Ringed Plover 7, Wheatear 3, Sand Martin approx. 40, Black Redstart 4 pairs.

2. The feeding grounds of all breeding waders were apparently within the pit area. The oystercatchers and sandpipers were breeding inland.
