The breeding bird population of Lake Flemhude in 1965

1) A 341-hectare area on Lake Flemhuder was surveyed in 1965 to determine its breeding bird population. 86 species with 1,068 pairs were identified. The abundance was 31.3 pairs per 10 hectares. 18 species are potential breeding birds, and 7 others are conceivably breeding birds.
2) The three most common species were the willow warbler, the whitethroat and the reed warbler, which together accounted for 20.2% of the total.
3) The habitat requirements of some species and information on breeding success and population development are provided.
