Breeding birds (1971) in a detached house district in northern Hamburg and notes on the counting method

In 1971, the singing sites or territories of 112 pairs (20 species, abundance 139.4 pairs/10 ha) were identified in an 8-hectare area of detached houses. House sparrows (47 pairs, 58.7 P/10 ha), blackbird (24 P., 30 P/10 ha) and starling (9 P., 11.2 P/10 ha) are the dominant breeding birds (71.1% of the population). This is followed by some comments on the recording of bird species common in urban biotopes and late arrivals.
