Der Kulturhistoriker Paul Leser und seine Verbindung zur Bündischen Jugend und zum SVD-Orden

Abstract

The article examines the life and academic background of Paul Leser, and in particular his connections with Father Wilhelm Schmidt, Father Wilhelm Koppers and the Anthropos Institute. These connections were especially intense, although Leser scrutinized Schmidt’s and Koppers’ studies with a critical eye. In this context, an attempt is also made to illuminate Leser’s religious orientation. Also discussed is his active involvement in the youth movement of
his time, on the assumption that spheres of private life can also influence academic relationships.
